Instead, we believe in natural cooling, provided by the shade of trees, vegetation, air circulation, and product innovation, which allows our wood and canvas accommodations to be thermally insulated.

At Huttopia, nature isn’t just scenery: it’s an integral part of the experience. All our destinations are established in the heart of forests, wooded meadows, or verdant valleys, where vegetation is preserved and omnipresent. Every tree counts, and beyond their beauty, they provide natural shade, essential during hot days. You breathe better, move more freely, and can enjoy every moment without risking sunstroke.

Accommodations designed to maintain coolness

Air conditioning in tents and chalets in the middle of nature makes no sense, neither ecologically nor philosophically. At Huttopia, we’re opposed to it. But then, what do we do when the sun is at its peak and summer is in full swing? We’ve worked with our expert team on innovating our accommodations; they have the ability to adapt to the summer climate and promote natural comfort, without artificial means.

• Our canvas and wood tents, Huttopia’s iconic accommodations, are equipped with multiple layers of canvas that ensure excellent thermal insulation. A micro-perforated shade cloth allows air to circulate freely while blocking sunlight. Result: indoor temperature reduced by up to 6°C compared to outside.

• Our wooden chalets are equipped with shutters allowing natural ventilation, and high-performance insulation. Their orientation is designed to take advantage of natural breezes.

All our accommodations are also equipped with fans and parasols, to adapt to every moment of the day and ensure optimal comfort without resorting to energy-intensive solutions.

Water features for cooling off

Summer at Huttopia is also an opportunity to fully enjoy the water. Whether it’s natural swimming in a lake, pools with forest views, rivers winding through a valley, or covered pools for cooler days… whatever the destination, you always have a water feature nearby for taking a dip, relaxing, or simply cooling off. All our pools are surrounded by vegetation and designed to integrate perfectly with their environment, particularly thanks to their wooden decking.

Ground that breathes

At Huttopia, you won’t find hot tarmac or concrete roads that reflect heat: our paths and pitches are made of packed earth, gravel, wood chips, or grass, keeping the ground cool and breathing. This choice isn’t random: natural surfaces limit sun reflection and help maintain a more pleasant ambient temperature, especially around accommodations. Besides being more comfortable for bare feet or playing children, these surfaces strengthen the connection with nature, gently and simply.

Cool nights

One of the great advantages of nature stays at Huttopia is the nighttime coolness. Unlike urban environments where heat remains trapped between walls, Huttopia campsites benefit from temperatures that naturally drop at night. Forests, lakeshores, altitude, or natural breezes provide restful nights, even in the height of summer. Sleeping in a tent, chalet, or cabin under the stars becomes a real pleasure, far from the stifling humidity of concrete buildings.
